Frank Lloyd Wright May Basket

The design for this 8" x 8" polychromatic tile by Motawi Tileworks is adapted from a cover of Liberty Magazine circa 1926-27 designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. While the magazine never published the cover design, it is perhaps the most popular example of Wright's more abstract works. A series of triangles set at 45 degrees to the horizontal and vertical accented with circular designs without relationship to the geometric. It is thought Wright was inspired by the Maypole celebrations at Hillside Home School run by his aunts. This handsome tile is shown framed in our own handmade quartersawn white oak frame, hand selected to ensure the best finish, with a slight bevel to the molding to draw attention to the tile.
