Watermark - Detail from Botticelli's La Primavera
This lovely watermark detail of Flora from Botticelli's famous painting has been created by Annarita Librari from Fabriano, Italy. The process begins by first carving the image in wax. From this wax metal dies are made and a papermaking mould surface is embossed with the image. A thin piece of handmade paper is formed with the mould and the watermark image is seen when held to the light. 4.5 x 6.5"
